About Brinn Willis
I refuse to believe that an investment
in creative pursuits is anything less than life changing.

I don't care how overly sentimental that sounds- I have seen it happen. I have watched the way it ignites a spark in someone's eyes, how it slows them down and ramps them up all at the same time. I have seen art give people a voice, a way to process their experiences- a priority refresh. I have studied the way it changes people on a cellular level, how it affects their mental health, and am a firm believer that art can change the world. Not just the viewing it, but by actually engaging in it- a perspective and worldview can change, one person at a time.
The medium that changed me was photography- more specifically, the alternative analog process of wetplate collodion. It is pure magic. The technological simplicity, the complex alchemy, the unpredictability. The way it captures its subject with a kind of honesty and authenticity, both which seem to have been eradicated from most images of today.
And so for me, inspiration lies in the truthful portrait and the techniques that encourage the sort of 'come as you are' documentation this world needs to see more of.
